NIJMEGEN — Queen Máxima officially opened the renovated Valkhof Museum in Nijmegen on Thursday afternoon, June 4. After a major renovation and sustainability upgrade, the museum returns as a place where history and art meet. With the celebratory opening, a new chapter begins for the Valkhof Museum.
The museum brings together stories about borders and the ways they reverberate through the present and the past. The museum will reopen to the public on Saturday, June 6. Director Hedwig Saam: “Valkhof Museum shows that history is not behind us, but stands at the center of the present. By connecting history, art and contemporary themes, we help visitors to view themselves, their surroundings and the world differently.”
